Invisalign is an invisible orthodontic treatment perfect to improve the smile and chewing of patients.

In this post we explain how Invisalign works and what are the keys to this aesthetic and dental health treatment. Invisalign is Vasaldora Clínica Dental’s invisible orthodontic treatment to improve the patient’s smile and straighten their teeth. The use of transparent aligners has made this type of orthodontics one of the most popular, both in terms of aesthetics and results.

Thanks to the 3D technology of Invisalign, our team specialised in Dental Aesthetics can show the patient how their smile will look before starting the treatment. Furthermore, it is suitable for anyone, even children. The first step in drawing up the digital treatment plan is to take photographs, x-rays and an intraoral scan. Once the preliminary tests have been carried out and the orthodontist has reviewed them, in Vasaldora we define the different phases of the treatment showing the final result through a 3D recreation and proposing the budget so that the patient can assess whether he or she finally wants to opt for Invisalign.

Invisible orthodontics begins with the manufacture and personalisation of the aligners or transparent splints. The patient will have to replace them approximately every two weeks depending on the treatment. This can be done comfortably at home and does not require a visit to the clinic. The first check-up in Vasaldora, after the start of the orthodontic treatment, is usually carried out 4 weeks after the start to review the process.

The treatment lasts a year or a year and a half. However, this depends on each patient. Sometimes the treatment takes longer, depending on the initial state of the teeth.

Aligners are made so that the patient wears them for about 22 hours or remove them every time they eat. It is recommended that, in the first days of wearing the brace, no particularly solid or difficult to chew food is eaten.

How to care for Invisalign®️ aligners

To take care of your aligners and prevent them from becoming stained or deformed, it is important to take into account the following recommendations:

  • Remove aligners when drinking very hot beverages or other beverages that may stain the aligner, such as wine or coffee. The patient can drink water normally without having to remove the splint.
  • Do not use toothpaste or toothpaste to clean the aligner. Cleaning can be done with a little paste or hand soap. There are specific Invisalign crystals so that the aligners stay whiter.
  • It is important to always carry the specific box that is given to the patient at the beginning of the treatment and where the aligner is stored.

Zero discomfort

One of the main concerns of patients when starting any type of orthodontic treatment is the discomfort it can generate: pain, sores, gum rubbing, etc. Aligners do not produce pain or cause the typical wounds or discomfort of traditional braces. The patient usually only feels a certain amount of pressure during the first two days after putting the brace on.

Sometimes aligners must be fitted with attachments – light composite reliefs – which are placed on the teeth so that the splint fits better and performs dental movements more accurately. Although they may seem to cause discomfort, not at all! The ataches do not cause any discomfort or pain, they only require an adaptation period of 2 or 3 days.
